Sacrifice of Privacy in Artist’s Life
People tend to see an artist as a perfect human being. Actually like other people, a famous artist is also needs to face many problems, for example privacy problem. It is because due to their fame, an artist is expected to sacrifice a certain amount of personal privacy.
Artist is a public figure and because of that everyone wants to know about artists’ life, activities, scandals, and even their relationship problems. Britney Spears for example, Britney is a pop princess and really famous around the world, Britney also has so many fans. Everyone really interested to follow Britney’s life. Public wants to know all of the Britney’s activities, her new boyfriend, her relationship with her father, even her new hair style and wardrobe. There is no more privacy in Britney’s life. All of that publication of Britney’s life is an example of the risk that needs to be accepted as an artist.
Artists have a tight relationship with media and publication. Media is everywhere and will exploit all of the general things and even personal problem related to particular famous artist. Media will always follow the artists to report the development of the entire artists’ activities. Paparazzi will always stalk the artists for 24 hour, took pictures of them, report to media which nightclub is their favourite and so on. As a consequence, the privacy of the artist will reduce and even their personal life will be affected. The worst case because of the publication by media and paparazzi is of course Lady Diana’s case. Lady Diana tried to escape from paparazzi in road tunnel, but unfortunately it is causing her death by an accident.
Basically, the easiest way to become famous is the publication of personal scandal and privacy problems. For example is porn video from Paris Hilton. Initially Paris Hilton is just a C-List celebrity and Hilton Hotels Corporation’s heiress and not so many people know about her. However, at the moment a video that shows Paris is making love with her boyfriend, Rick Salomon leaked to the media, Paris suddenly become a famous celebrity that always shows in gossip news and even her celebrity status raised to A-List. This example shows that exploitation of privacy could help to achieve celebrity status. Another example is Keeping up with the Kardashian. Kardashian family is not an artist family. Kardashian is only a rich family which one of the daughters, Kim Kardashian, is a socialite. In purpose to become famous, Kardashian family made a decision to create a reality show that shows clearly Kardashian’s life activities and even family’s problem. Now, Kim become one of the famous artists in the world and also brings her entire family to become a famous artist family. Because of that, it is not confusing there are so many artists willing to sacrifice their privacy to maintain their popularity.
Everyone wants to become a famous artist. As an artist people could get all of the glamorous things they want, but there is also a risk that needs to be faced as an artist. All people that want to become an artist should ready to sacrifice their privacy and be exploited by media.
